Delaying discussion on the city’s new plan to achieve growth may not have been the right move for the Mayor and Common council.
The Roapmap for Smart Growth was approved Monday night at council but the details were not unveiled until the next day at a media briefing.

When it comes to the outside marketing of Saint John, Mayor Don Darling says they need to identify a key message and put some money behind it adding it makes sense to partner with other groups like Opporotunites New Brunswick who are already out travelling the country.
Darling thinks it would make sense for City to have a representative there to make sure Saint John is on the map and selling itself effectively with a clear message.
Mayor Darling says it would not be prudent for council to offer a tax cut right now when the deficit sits at 5.4 million dollars.
I remember the process by which #PlanSJ was launched & developed; simply impressive, grassroots at the core and enveloped with best practice
