Smoking Pig BBQ Hopes To Add Local Beer To The Menu

The Smoking Pig BBQ is hoping to amend a zoning bylaw to allow for a beer license and Quispamsis Council is supporting the initiative.

Owner Jesse Vergen says getting the support from town council is the first phase before they make a provincial application.

The Smoking Pig BBQ’s current location is designated as “rural”, which does not allow the sale of alcohol.

Quispamsis Council passed first and second reading of a proposed zoning amendment.

Vergen says local beer will be the main focus and says our region is very lucky to have so many local and top quality breweries.

Vergen has appeared on multiple cooking shows and was even named a contestant on Top Chef Canada All-Stars edition.

He says he’s looking to take the Smoking Pig BBQ to the next level by allowing customers the chance at hitting a bucket of balls, eating some barbecue and washing it down with local beer.
