The four Atlantic premiers plan to establish a Clean Energy Partnership.
New Brunswick’s Brian Gallant, Newfoundland and Labrador’s Dwight Ball and Nova Scotia’s Stephen McNeil met in Saint John.
At a news conference, the Premiers were asked if they could work together on carbon pricing and Brian Gallant said he says they will see if they can find that kind of cooperation and if not they need to find the right system in each province that will work for their people and their economy
He says that the Trudeau government has made it clear that if provinces don’t participate in this they will have a backstop option that will kick into gear.
PEI Premier Wade McLauchlan couldn’t attend in person but joined the other Atlantic premiers over the phone.
