The Canadian government is putting additional pressure on Bashar Al-Assad’s regime in Syria with new sanctions.
Minister of Foreign Affairs Chrystia Freeland announced 27 additional individuals are now subject to an asset freeze among other restrictions.
Freeland says these are high ranking officials within the Assad regime.
The expanded sanctions are designed to pressure the government to end indiscrimintate violence against its own people, according to Freeland.
