Canadian Under 18 Curling Championship Event In Moncton Gets A Great Response

The curling teams have headed home, and it appears the inaugural Canadian Under 18 boys and girls curling championship was a big success.

Chairperson Jacques Robichaud says he received some very positive comments, “The father of one of the players on the Northern Ontario winning team said that they had been to three National events this year across Canada, and this is the one, by far that seemed the most organized, and that the players had the most fun at.”

Robichaud adds that Curling Canada was happy with the event as well, “Officials said they were happy with it ran and everything seemed to be as expected.”

Robichaud says 140 volunteers pitch in to help out during the tournament that ran from April 18th until the 22nd, “We were happy with the way that went. We had targeted a greater number to start off with, but we had enough volunteers to be able to manage this successfully.”

There’s no word yet on how many people attended, and Robichaud expects it will be at least a week, before they have any of those figures.

Next up, Robichaud says they will now be turning their attentions to their bid for the Brier in 2019.
