Marissa Shephard’s trial for first degree murder and arson is one step closer to beginning after a court appearance today.
A preliminary inquiry was scheduled to begin today, which would determine if there was enough evidence to go to trial.
However, Shephard waived her right to the inquiry today.
Shephard faces charges relating to the death of 18-year old Baylee Wylie back in December of 2015.
Devin Morningstar, one of three people charged in the death was convicted of first degree murder and arson and sentenced to life in prison last November.
Shephard’s next court appearance will be June 5th, when the Crown and Defence will meet to set a trial date.
