Mayor Of Manchester Says Vigil Planned

A vigil will be held tonight in Manchester, for those killed in a terrorist attack at an Arena.

22 people died after an explosion yesterday during a concert. Officials have now confirmed that some of those killed were children. 59 others were injured.

The Mayor of Greater Manchester Andy Burham gave a statement this morning, saying it is hard to believe what has happened in the last few hours, and the shock, anger and hurt that is felt.

He says they are grieving but they are strong.

He gave thanks to the hundreds of firefighters, police officers and ambulance staff who worked through the night…but he is also thanking the people of Manchester who have opened their doors to strangers.

The British Prime Minister Theresa May also commented, stating, “All acts of terrorism are cowardly attacks on innocent people. But this attack stands out for its appalling, sickening cowardice.”
