Get Ready For Heavy Rainfall, Saint John EMO Says

The Saint John Emergency Management Organization is asking Saint Johners to prepare for the coming weather which includes heavy rain and the possibility of a storm surge along our coast.

Not only are we getting up to 30 millimeters of rain, it’s happening at the same time we’re getting the highest spring tides of the year.

Environment Canada has a special weather statement currently in effect and says a storm surge warning may be required.

SJ EMO manager Mike Carr says water could have a hard time draining into the bay because of the higher tide levels which means the possibility of localized flooding.

Use caution at beaches and coastal areas and drivers are asked to use extreme caution. EMO will be keeping an eye on the situation and is ready to respond if they have to.
