The people who live and work in the Central Peninsula have a lot to say about what the area needs and how it could change in the future.

Public engagement began in May, a summit was held in July and other events continued until early October.
Committee chair Kay Gillis tells CHSJ News they are really happy with the level of feedback they have received so far.
Gillis says they received 2000 comments, had 1100 people engaged, 165 people participated on the digital platforms which spurred 500 separate comments and conversations from there.
An open house held at Market Square featured large colourful panels describing some of the visions for the future.
Gillis says adding more green space in the Central Peninsula was suggested a lot.

She says adding more trees to a busy street can make a lot of positive differences like slowing down traffic, improving the quality of life, the look and it also combats blight.
More feedback will put into the draft plan which will be presented to Common Council early in the new year where Gillis says it will be workshopped with some key groups.
The completed plan will be presented to council by the middle of 2018.
