Changes Coming To The Way The City Of Saint John Will Be Collecting Your Garbage.

Look for some changes in the city of Saint John when it comes to having your garbage collected.

The city is bringing in a new enhanced by law in hopes of creating operational efficiencies and ensuring safety of its workers.

Operations Manager for Transportation and Environment, Katherine Shannon, says a major change is the end of the collection of demolition or construction waste in your garbage.

It only costs an individual $28 per ton to take it to the landfill whereas the city is charged $108 per ton.

Another big change is for those who use those wooden boxes at the end of the driveway for their trash.

They are being asked to remove any garbage bags on collection day to ensure the workers do not encounter any animals that may be inside the wooden box at that time.
