A program launched by the provincial government today is designed to help seniors remain independent and in their own homes.
The Seniors Health, Well Being and Home Safety Review is voluntary, and takes about 90 minutes to complete with a trained individual.
During the review, seniors will learn about local programs to help their daily lives, and can create a personalized plan to maintain a healthy, active, and independent lifestyle.
Eligible seniors will be able to apply for $1500 in assistance for minor in home repairs to improve mobility or independence.
The program is available immediately starting in Saint John, but won’t be rolled out to Greater Moncton until December.
Full provincial coverage is anticipated by Spring 2018.
People can arrange for a review or learn more about programs for seniors by visiting the government website, or by calling 1-855-550-0552.
