The My Community at a Glance survey found in the Saint John area that 36 per cent of students in grades 4 and 5 are physically active for 60 minutes a day.
56 per cent spent at least two hours in front of a screen and that jumps to 67 per cent for students in Grade 6 through 12.
ADHD is the most common learning disability or special education need in kids from Kindergarten to Grade 5.
The rate is higher among students in Grade 6 through to Grade 12.
Those students also believe they have a moderate to high level of mental fitness but fewer see their health as being very good or excellent.
The study includes data on Saint John, Chance Harbour, Garnett Settlement and Fairfield.
