The City Asks Saint John Police To Reduce Costs Further

Budget discussions continue for the Saint John Police Commission.

Police Chief John Bates tells us the first budget that was produced and shared at city hall is one they felt was needed to maintain the adequate effectiveness of the police force.

But Bates says they have been asked by city staff to see what they can do to reduce the operating budget.

He says it’s not an easy task saying they are beyond scraping the bone adding they have been dipping into the marrow for a while.

Bates expects they will be submitting the changes sometime over the next week.
