AIDS Saint John just received $22,000 in funding from the 100 Women Who Care in Saint John and it will be put to good use.
Executive Director Julie Dingwell says their group also handles the needle distribution program for addicts in Saint John.
She says they used to hand out a lot of needles before the methadone clinics opened and then the crisis really arrived with Fentanyl and Carfentanil hitting the streets.
Dingwell says even though these drugs are 1,000 and 10,000 times stronger than morphine, dealers use them to get new customers hooked and have little concern if a few die along the way, she says they consider that just part of the cost of doing business.
