Thursday Morning Sports For December 14th

Green Bay Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers began preparing for his return to the field Sunday against Carolina after missing nearly two months because of his broken right collarbone.

In the NHL, Brad Marchand assisted on the tying goal late in regulation time and then scored the game winner at 35 seconds of overtime to give Boston a 3-2 win over Detroit…..Craig Anderson made 27 saves to snap his seven game losing streak and Ottawa broke its five game losing streak, 3-2 over the New York Rangers…….It was Nashville over Vancouver 7-1 and Dallas downed the Islanders 5-2.

In the NBA, DeMar DeRozan sank 37 points and the Toronto Raptors beat Phoenix 115-109 for their seventh victory in their last eight games……Kyrie Irving had 33 points as the Boston Celtics downed Denver 124-118. In other play, it was the Los Angeles Clippers 106 Orlando 95…..Washington 93 Memphis 87…..Oklahoma City 100 Indiana 95…..Portland 102 Miami 95…..New Orleans 115 Milwaukee 108…..Chicago 103 Utah 100 and Houston 108 Charlotte 96.

The Los Angeles Angels have acquired second baseman Ian Kinsler from the Detroit Tigers for two minor league prospects…..Pending the results of a physical, the Miami Marlins have traded All-Star left fielder Marcell Ozuna to the St. Louis Cardinals. Ozuna hit .312 this past season with 37 home runs and 124 runs batted in which was third best in the National League.
