Horizon Health Wins National Award For Energy Efficiency

Horizon Health has received a national award for its efforts in becoming more energy efficient.

It’s estimated more than 4 and a half million dollars have been saved over the last 4 years.

The Energy Manager at Service New Brunswick Kate Butler says eventually all the health care facilities will be equipped with L-E-D lighting. Horizon board member Dr. Tom Barry of Saint John would like to know if better lighting will reduce the number of patients falling and injuring themselves which he says is a real problem. The transition to L-E-D lighting is almost complete at the Saint John Regional Hospital.

The Regional Manager of Physical Resources at Horizon, Blaine Lynch says more will be done with recycling, composting, water reduction and use of renewable forms of energy.
