Kensington Police In PEI Use Social Media To Warn Against Tide Pod Challenge

A warning using some obvious comparisons from the Kensington Police Service in Prince Edward Island..

Officer Rob took to Facebook yesterday to let viewers know that the Tide Pod Challenge isn’t a good idea..

The challenge involves teens who eat the pods on video, instead of using them for laundry detergent. They then post the video to social media.

“As of January 1st, we are sitting at actually 426 reported cases of poisoning in Canada and the United States and a 40th person has been put into the hospital.”

It says on the front of the package, that pods are harmful when put into mouth or swallowed.

Officer Rob made comparisons in the video of what is safe to eat, and what is not, “A delicious packet of crackers, eat the crackers, great with soup, don’t eat the wrapper. So the wrapper no, the crackers yes, and the Tide Pod, always a no.”

He ends the video by saying this, “If you see one of your friends doing that, one of your friends wants you to take the Tide Pod Challenge, feel free to give them an orange. A lot safer.”
