The Bold Obituary Of A Pennsylvania Teen Gets Attention Online

The suicide of teen in Pennsylvania and her parents bold obituary detailing how bullying played a role in their daughter’s decision to end her life is getting a lot of attention online.

15 year old Sadie Riggs died on June 17th and her obituary reads “yes, Sadie hung herself” and goes on to explain that an event at school left her feeling worthless.

Katina Feggos is the clinical manager at Family Plus Life Solutions and she tells us bullying is a nationwide problem but it’s not the only cause of anxiety and stress in teens.

She says depression and anxiety is becoming paralyzing where youth are not able to feel or express their emotions openly to peers, parents or family.

Feggos says she is always cautious when she hears about adolescent or teen suicide about limiting it to one cause adding she also read that Sadie Riggs struggled with family complications, depression and anxiety.

She says the age of social media has made it imperative for family members and guardians to play even more of an active role in the children’s lives adding that can mean having the passwords to their social media accounts.

Anyone struggling with the loss of someone to suicide or any mental health challenge can reach out to Telehealth at 811 or 1-888-811-3664.
