This is the time of year when many people struggle financially, according to a Leger survey conducted for the Financial Planning Standards Council and Credit Canada.
They found that between now and Valentine’s Day is often considered the “saddest time of year”.
More than half of Canadians (53 per cent) are feeling financially blue, with the younger generations especially struggling.
One-in-five Canadians has a credit card balance larger than their savings account.
An estimated 68 per cent of younger adults between the ages of 18 and 44 are especially concerned about finances at this time of year.
And 25 per cent of Canadians do not have enough money put away to take a winter vacation to escape the stress of winter.
