$216-Million Drinking Water Project On Schedule, Project Manager Says

16 kilometers of watermain pipe have been installed or rehabilitated to date with 10 left to go as part of the ongoing $216-million clean drinking water project in Saint John.

Project manager Dean Price has delivered an update on the progress so far for the months of April and May and says the substantial completion date for the project is on track as planed for November 30 of next year.

“There’s a lot of things going on east and west, on the east side very soon the concrete walls will be going up at the treatment plant. That’ll happen pretty fast, in a month or less,” says Price.

“Over the next few months they’ll be continuing work on Westmorland Road, Rothesay Avenue should start sometime later this year, Robertson Lake dam…”

There’s also sliplining to be done on Loch Lomond Road and dam upgrades to the Latimer Lake south dam.

According to the report, the project has sent out several crews throughout the city and has made significant progress in the last few months on the drinking water project.

“On the scope, there’s been no scope changes, which is good. Status quo with the schedule, the west milestone for the well water on the west side is going to be probably late summer,” says Price.

This is later than planned, the work was originally planned for early summer but according to a report on the project they are trying to fast track the completion.
