The Million Dollar Pledge first announced back in January now has all 10 businesses on board. Each business contributes $10,000 a year for 10 years.
It was launched with participants like Hemmings House Productions, Mrs Dunsters, Kredl’s and Vision Coaching.
Wendy MacDermott of the United Way tells Acadia News the group met with Heather Bell Williams at Milltown Elementary school about a program they are supporting.
“What’s really cool about the programming there is it’s very comprehensive and intentional. There is a summer program that just finished last week that focused on maintaining literacy and numeracy over the summer.”
MacDermott adds the business leaders who are part of the pledge are also looking to the future.
“They are leaning in with their business acumen and their skills in addition to their generosity”.
The other businesses involved are Intelisys, Porpoise, Teed Saunders Doyle, Domino’s Pizza, Scott McCain and one anonymous company.
