A couple of cruise ships are being diverted to Saint John because of active weather on the Atlantic Ocean.
The Insignia will stop in the Port City from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Sunday with its 685 passengers.
On Wednesday, the Norwegian Dawn and its 2,200 passengers will dock in the city, making it a double-ship day.
Paula Copeland with Port Saint John told our newsroom it is quite common for cruise ships to be diverted here this time of year.
“We typically get additional diversions in September and October,” Copeland said in an email.

The additions mean a total of seven cruise ships and nearly 17,000 passengers will now visit Saint John next week.
The timing could not be better as 200 port officials visit Saint John for the Association of Canadian Port Authorities 60th annual conference from Monday to Thursday.
