Green Leader Says Changes Needed For Management Of Crown Land Forests.

Green party leader David Coon says big changes need to be made to the way New Brunswick forests are treated.

Coon says chemical spraying and clear-cutting needs to stop.

“Clearly we will transform the way forestry is done and the Crown lands are administered to eliminate the spraying of glyphosate in the forest and dramatically reduce the wide-spread clear cutting that is being done on our Crown lands,” says Coon.

“Forests can be both a source of work and wealth in local forest-based communities, they will be managed in a way that they can sustain our populations of wildlife and protect our water courses,” stated Coon.

The Green leader also says aboriginal treaty rights must be recognized in any forestry plan.
