Major Crime Unit Investigating Armed Robbery At Shawn’s Variety

City police releasing further details about that armed robbery at a convenience store in the South end over the weekend.

Sergeant Lori Magee says a lone man came into Shawn’s Variety on Broad Street at around 7:30 Saturday evening and then made off on foot with an undisclosed amount of cash. The Forensic Unit was called in to process the scene and the robbery is being investigated by Major Crime.

As well over the weekend – a man who received minor injuries after being assaulted on the Manawagonish Road refusing to cooperate with police. Magee says he has been charged with three counts of threats on police and an EMT. He will be appearing in court at a later date.

Officers also getting called out to Summit Drive on the East side after a caller noticed his neighbour’s door was open. Nothing was missing but officers canvassing the area getting reports of a suspicious man knocking on doors the night before.
