Fredericton’s Police Chief Responds To Charges Against Officers

Fredericton Police Chief Leanne Fitch understands there is a lot of public interest and concern with two of their officers being charged this week.

Sgt. Tim Sowers is facing a charge of uttering threats and of assault while Corporal Lou Lafleur is facing an impaired driving charge.

She says the issues are not unexpected adding the investigations were underway in 2015 while some remain ongoing.

Her statement also refers to further developments that will be coming including the decision on the Campbell arbitration which is expected by Thursday.

The KV Regional Police and the Miramichi Police are handling the investigation of Sowers and Lafleur who are both on desk duty.
