A New Brunswick darts player has reached the final eight at the British Darts Organisations World Championships. Jeff Smith of Hampton beat 15th seed Brian Dawson of England four sets to one to advance to the quarter-finals. He earlier upset the number two seed and three time World Champion, Martin Adams. Smith plays tomorrow against Dennis Harbour of England.
In the NHL……Another big night for Jonathon Bernier who made 39 saves, 18 of them in the first period, as the Toronto Mape Leafs shut out Anaheim 4-0…..Bernier also scuffled with Corey Perry during the third period when the Ducks’ All-Star forward reacted to a slash on his legs by cross checking Bernier twice….The Montreal Canadiens got by New Jersey 2-1…..Chicago downed Pittsburgh 3-1….Vancouver got by Carolina 3-2 and Colorado edged St. Louis in overtime 4-3.
