Prince Edward Street Fire “Suspicious”

Saint John Police Sergeant Lori Magee says while the origin of the fire that destroyed two buildings in the early morning hours yesterday on Prince Edward Street is still unclear, the fire is “being treated as suspicious at this time.”

Over a hundred people were evacuated as a result of the fire, which was in close proximity to an apartment complex. The residents were allowed back in as of 9:30 this morning: some people were treated for smoke inhalation.

There were no serious injuries.
