The Folks Forced Out By Fire Are Very Grateful To The Volunteers

The folks that had to leave their apartment building because of Sunday’s fire are back home in the high rise across the street.

Volunteer Joel Johnston of the Salvation Army says they provided meals and warmth for the displaced, firefighters and emergency responders at the Hope Cafe.

He says he got a phone call from the city fire department at 4 o’clock on Sunday morning to see if they could come up and assist with the fire.

One of the tenants from the high rise, a woman named Trudy, tells CHSJ News she has been spoiled rotten and couldn’t be more pleased with how well the Salvation Army and Red Cross have taken care of them.
