Constant boil water orders should be a thing of the past for homes and businesses east of Reversing Falls.
The city turned on its new Loch Lomond drinking water treatment facility in late August.
It is being called another major milestone in the city’s $216.8-million drinking water project.
Brent McGovern, the commissioner of Saint John Water, told council last week they have received lots of good feedback since the switch.
“Customers are very satisfied and happy to be receiving this much-improved quality drinking water,” McGovern said. “A number of the comments have been improved colour, clarity and smell.”

Coun. David Merrithew gave a huge thank-you to all the staff involved in the multimillion-dollar project.
“I realize that the city went in debt, that the water rates are up, but it’s something, in my humble opinion, that needed to be done many, many years ago,” he said.
Mayor Don Darling also thanked the previous mayor and council, who were the ones to make the project happen.
McGovern said the city will hold an open house in the near future once the construction is completely finished.
