In the Majors, Baltimore, leading the American League East won its second straight, 4-2 over Tampa Bay while second place New York lost to the Tigers 5-2 to fall 7 games back of the Orioles…..The Blue Jays are now ten back after losing to the Red Sox 11-7 in 11 innings. Boston got 7 runs in the 11th which included homers by Mike Napoli and Allen Craig.
In the West, the Los Angeles Angels, with the best record in the Majors, are back in first place after an 8-2 win over Miami while second place Oakland lost to Houston 4-2.
In the National League, Madison Bumgarner of the Giants pitched a perfect game into the 8th inning before allowing just one hit by Justin Morneau in a 3-0 win over Colorado.
In New Brunswick Senior baseball, the Saint John Alpines open up their best of 5 quarter final tomorrow night in Moncton against the Mets starting at 7:30. Game two will be played at Memorial Field, Friday night at 7:30 with the Alpines raising money for “The Give”.
