Rothesay Recreation Project Currently On Hold

The town of Rothesay waiting for the last piece of the financial puzzle to come into place when it comes to their $13-million recreation project.

Mayor Bill Bishop says they’ve secured municipal and federal funds to help pay for the project but are still looking for a commitment from the province which they aren’t able to pursue until after the election.

The project would see the construction of a new arena on Scott Avenue and the renovation of the existing one.

Bishop says they are looking for $4-million-dollars from the provincial government. If the project gets the green light, construction could begin this fall or in the spring.
