Expect a significant jump in the price of milk in February.
The New Brunswick Farm Products Commission announced a 4 cent per litre increase in the price of milk starting February 1st.
The commission says the increase is necessary because of the increased cost of production on farms as well as wage increases.
They also say the exchange rate on the U.S. dollar is affecting the processing sector.
Pricing under the School Milk Program will remain unchanged for the current school year.
Commission chair Bob Shannon says New Brunswick dairy producers and processors supply about 1.2 million litres of milk to kindergarten to Grade 12 students each year.
