Supreme Court Of Canada Grants Four Month Extension In Physician Assisted Dying Legislation

The majority of Canadians will have to wait another four months before assisted dying legislation is passed in Canada.
The Supreme Court of Canada granted the federal government an extension yesterday, two months short of what the feds asked for.
Dying With Dignity Canada is concerned with the decision to delay the implementation of last winter’s landmark decision on physician assisted dying.
CEO Wanda Morris says they are disappointed Canadians facing terrible diagnoses may have to wait even longer to realize their right to die peacefully and with dignity.
However, a bright spot in yesterday’s ruling was a process laid out by which some of the most desperately ill Canadians could access physician assisted death before June 6th.
The original deadline was February 6th of this year.
