Rothesay Will Have LED Streetlights Installed As Early As Next Month

The future of the town of Rothesay will be getting a lot brighter as early as next month.

NB Power is in it’s 3rd year of it’s streetlight replacement program and hopes to make the change in Rothesay as early as mid August.

Nivanthi Amarakoni is the Products and Services Analyst for NB Power, she says the new LED Lights have many advantages compared to the current bulbs being used.

Amarakoni says the major difference people will notice from the new LED lights is a much whiter light.

She says the current streetlights need to be replaced roughly every six years, compared to every 20 years for LED lights.

The 5 year project costs an estimated $30 million.
