Organizers Add New Sports To The 2016 East Coast Games

The 2016 East Coast Games in Saint John this summer adding more sports including wheelchair basketball and ultimate frisbee.

Event organizer Bill MacMackin says they looked a bidding on some multi-sports events but there just aren’t that many for a community the size of Saint John.

He says there have been ongoing discussions in recent years about creating a homegrown event as opposed to spending money on bids.

MacMackin says bids can be very expensive and you don’t know if you are going to win.

The inaugural event last year had 1000 participants and they are hoping to double that this year.
