The snowfall is leading to a dangerous situation where natural gas vents are being blocked.
This happened at an apartment building on Roxbury Drive where gas reading were quite strong and three people were sent to hospital.
Mark Wilson of the City fire department tells CHSJ News the fire department is getting a lot of calls about this lately.
He says for public safety reasons, they need people ensure that all gas ventilation and exhaust pipes are cleared of ice and snow.
Wilson says this gas problem is being compounded by the fact that crews are facing a big challenge getting around because the side streets are not clear yet.
Fire crews are spread thin throughout the city because this issue keeps popping up in different locations and because of other calls.
