Premiers Express Concerns Over Cancellation Of Long Form Census

Premiers from across the country are in Newfoundland and Labrador today for Council of the Federation meetings.

The long form census is just one of many issues that was up for discussion.

Premier Brian Gallant expressed concerns, stating that changes to the survey have negatively affected the economy and services in New Brunswick..

The long form census was cancelled in 2010 in favour of a voluntary household survey.

Gallant says the new survey doesn’t adequately represent all segments of our population and that makes it an unreliable tool in making decisions on important issues like literacy, labour market shortages, skills training and housing needs,
