A big trade in baseball…….The Toronto Blue Jays have acquired shortstop Troy Tulowitzki in a trade with the Colorado Rockies for shortstop Jose Reyes and minor leaguers. The Red Sox traded Shane Victorino to the Los Angeles Angels for infielder Josh Rutledge.
In the Majors, the Yankees now lead the American League East by 7 games over the Blue Jays and Baltimore after a 6-2 win over Texas. Alex Rodriguez hit his 24th homer of the season on his 40th birthday…..The Red Sox lost to the Chicago White Sox 10-8…..David Ortiz hit another homer for Boston. The Red Sox have lost 10 of their past 12 games.
In the National League, San Francisco won its sixth straight game, 4-2 over Milwaukee to move just a half game back of the Dodgers in the West.
Boston’s bid to host the 2024 Olympics has been rejected by the U.S. Olympic Committee.
