The priority neighbourhoods will be getting more than 50 thousand dollars less in community grants this year and that reduction has made more than one member of Common Council uncomfortable.
Councillor Donna Reardon is hoping the budget cut won’t turn the clock back to the bad old days and fellow Councillor John McKenzie argues no one could be expected to work with a 43 per cent reduction in their budget. That’s why he wants to revisit the issue sooner rather than later.
The requests for grants this year from the city exceeded a million dollars.
