It’s a change we haven’t had in Saint John for a while…going from snow to rain.
It presents challenges for the city to keep roads clear and safe but they are planning ahead.
Tim O’Reilly of Transporation and Environment Services says the snow removal of late will help them this weekend
He says the efforts over the last couple of weeks have helped adding any place they are doing snow removal they open it up to the curb to allow water to drain off.
O’Reilly says they are dealing with all contingencies including the possibility of a flash freeze on Sunday night.
There are 1,133 catch basins in the City–93 of which are considered priority.
Crews will be working throughout the weekend so if you see flooding call 648-4455.
Over 20,000 loads of snow have been removed from our streets and sidewalks.
