Louis Fortin, a grade 9 teacher at Oromocto High, won a silver medal in cross country skiing at the Canada Winter Games. New Brunswick has won 8 medals thus far.

The Saint John Mill Rats won an overtime shootout over the Moncton Miracles at the Moncton Coliseum, 137-130. It was the Mill Rats 5th straight win and 10th in their last 11 games. The regular season finale goes Thursday night at Harbour Station against London with the playoffs starting next week.

Yoan Moncada, a 19 year old switch hitting Cuban infielder, will officially become a member of the Boston Red Sox by Friday. Moncada, who turns 20 in May, hit .277 over two seasons in Cuba’s top league. He has been compared to Robinson Cano.
