Thursday Morning Sports For September 18th

Another black eye for the NFL……..Arizona Cardinals running back Jonathan Dwyer has been deactivated from all team activities following his arrest on allegations of aggravated assault involving a 27 year old woman and 18 month old child at his Phoenix home in July.

In the Majors, Baltimore beat the Jays 6-1 while the Yankees won, 3-2 over Tampa Bay as Derek Jeter ends an 0 for 28 slump…..Both the Jays and Yankees are 6 games out of the Wildcard……Detroit lost to Minnesota 8-4 while Kansas City downed the White Sox 6-2 so the Royals now trail the Tigers in the American League Central by just half a game.

Blue Jays pitcher Marcus Stroman suspended 6 games for throwing at the head of Orioles catcher Caleb Joseph.

In the National League West, the Dodgers lost to Colorado 16-2 while the Giants defeated Arizona 4-2 to move just two games back of Los Angeles…….Pittsburgh trounced the Red Sox 9-1 but the Cardinals shut out Milwaukee 2-0 to maintain a 2 and a half game lead over the Pirates in the N-L Central.

In Junior Girls Varsity Soccer, St. Stephen High and Rothesay High tied 1-1.
