Tomorrow Is Pink Shirt Day

It’s a statement that goes beyond fashion.

Pink Shirt Day is an anti-bullying initiative that was started in 2007 by two Nova Scotian teens who supported a fellow student who was being bullied by getting their friends to wear pink shirts.

The Boys and Girls Club is taking part tomorrow and Andrew LeBlanc of the Riverview chapter says it’s about much more than just wearing a piece of clothing – it’s about doing something positive for other people.

He says their major action item is the Pink Shirt Day pledge where you commit to do something positive for people in your community and stand up when you see hurtful behaviour taking place. Last year they received 14,700 pledges and this year their goal is 15,000.
