Former Saint Johnner Sentenced In U.S.

The former Vice-President of Finance and Administration at Saint John Energy, 55 year old Anthony Furness escapes prison time in Utah despite admitting he stole thousands of dollars from the taxpayer owned Heber Light and Power Company.

Furness pleaded guilty to a reduced third-degree felony count of attempted theft by deception.

He was sentenced to three years probation and 10 days in jail after agreeing to pay more than 51 thousand dollars in restitution.

Furness now runs a landscaping business in Utah. He’s still wanted in Saint John for fraud over 5 thousand dollars.
