Friday Morning Sports For February 27th

New Brunswick won three more medals at the Canada Winter Games…..Para Nordic skier Louis Fortin of Fredericton won gold in the 5 kilometer para nordic freestyle race. Maxime Emond of Edmundston won bronze in judo and Miranda Dedam of Miramichi captured silver in figure skating.

In the NHL, rookie Jacob De La Rose scored twice and P.K. Subban had a goal and two assists in the Canadiens’ 5-2 victory over Columbus……. Jonathon Bernier made 47 saves as the Leafs got by Philadelphia 3-2…..The Leafs also trading David Clarkson to Columbus for injured winger Nathan Horton…..Chicago shut out Florida 3-0…..The Panthers acquired forward Jaromir Jagr from the New Jersey Devils for a second-round draft pick in the 2015 NHL draft and a conditional third-round draft pick in the 2016 draft…..Detroit edged San Jose 3-2……Andrew Hammond got his second shutout in a row with Ottawa blanking Los Angeles 1-0……In other play, it was Buffalo 6 Vancouver 3……N-Y Rangers 4 Arizona 3……St. Louis 2 Winnipg 1 (SO) and Minnesota 4 Nashville 2.

Sussex High Lady Sonics defeated the KVHS Lady Crusaders 5-2 yesterday afternoon in Sussex to clinch their semi final series 2 games to 1 and earned them a spot in today’s Southern Conference ‘AAA’ Girls High School Championship against the Saint John High Lady Greyhounds. Game time is 3:45pm at the Rothesay Arena. Both teams will advance to the regionals beginning March 9th.

The regular season wrapping up for the Saint John Mill Rats as they lose to London 119-103.

In the NBA, LeBron James scored 42 points as Cleveland beats Golden State 110-99.
