More Atlantic Canadians Carry Credit Card Debt

It turns out that a quarter of us see our credit cards as a sweet supply of free spending money – and that number is even higher when you’re talking about Millennials.

That finding comes from BMO’s Credit Card Report showing 46-percent of Canadians currently have credit card debt with Atlantic Canada reporting the highest percentage out of all the individual regions at 52-percent tied with Ontario.

Quebec – meantime – has the lowest at 37.

The report also finds while 30-percent of Canadians carry a monthly balance on their credit cards, over half of us pay off our entire credit card balance every month.
