New Brunswick Student Alliance Says Provincial Budget Isn’t As Bad As Expected

Executive Director of the New Brunswick Student Alliance Lindsay Handren says the provincial budget isn’t as bad as she thought it would be.

Handren says she expected to see large operating grant cuts to Universities included in the budget.

She says the government froze operating grants for the second year in a row, which means Universities aren’t seeing any increase in the amount of money coming into their system.

Handren says a freeze is still a decrease in operating grants as far as Universities are concerned.

She says the government has committed to a new financial aid program that will target students who need it the most.
