Man Arrested After ‘Serious’ Assault

A man is facing charges after what Saint John police describe as a “serious domestic assault” on the west side of the city.

Staff Sgt. Jim Fleming told our newsroom officers were called to a residence on King Street West around 2:30 p.m. Saturday.

“The victim in this case suffered significant but non-life threatening injuries,” Fleming said on Sunday.

Fleming said officers from the Emergency Tactical Services team arrested a man in his 20s a short distance away.

He said the man is facing charges of assault with a weapon and remains in custody pending a court appearance.
