Airport Upgrades Called Essential To Its Future

The President and C-E-O at Saint John Airport David Allen is hoping work can be started on 50 million dollars worth of upgrades in two years time.

Before anything can happen, a funding arrangement will have to be worked out with the federal and provincial governments with the question being do they realise how vital the upgrades are to the future of the airport. Allen responds by saying he hopes so, considering not much has been spent on the airport since it was built in 1952.

Allen says Transport Canada will be making it a stipulation that the runways will have to be extended because of the Air France crash in Toronto so there’s no choice in the matter.

He adds centre lighting and intensified side lighting will mae it easier and safer for pilots to land in marginally foggy conditions.
