Saint John Father And Son To Cycle To Shediac

A father and son from Saint John are cycling Saturday from Saint John to Shediac, a distance of 190 kilometers to raise money for research into A-L-S or Lou Gehrig’s disease.

Kevin Van Beelan says he and his son Justin, who graduated from Dalhousie University, cycled last year from Saint John to Sussex and back.

Last year, they raisied 11 hundred dollars and this year, the pledges already exceed 2 thousand dollars. Van Beelen figures they’ll be able to complete the journey to Shediac in 9 to 11 hours.

Van Beelen calls it a family effort, thanking his wife, Amber and four other children.
